Facilitate the provision of an innovative treatment thanks to a Managed Access Program (MAP)

Background

A world leader in the pharmaceutical industry has entrusted Keyrus Life Science with the implementation and complete management of a "Managed Access Program". The program objective is to promote treatments that demonstrated their efficiency in clinical trials and are not yet available on the market towards patients who would need them.

Challenge

This early access for an innovative and promising treatment was very highly expected by healthcare professionals and patients (>1000 patients expected over 2 years). Nevertheless, the project required a relatively cumbersome process for treatment requests (2 different systems, with several validations) which may be likely to mar the commitment of healthcare professionals. A fluid and important communication with the Key Opinion Leaders was therefore a crucial aspect to ensure the success of the project.

Approach

To manage this program and meet the expectations of the client, healthcare professionals and patients, we dedicated a multidisciplinary team: CRA (Clinical Research Associate), Project Manager, Data Management, Pharmacovigilance expert, etc. This team, in charge of the end-to-end management of the requests, had to be very agile and reactive in order to ensure a quick processing of the requests, despite the complexity of the process.

Key results

01
More than 100 patients benefited from early access to treatment in the first 2 months of the program
02
Client satisfaction with the implementation and management of the program
03
Prescriber satisfaction: short response times and efficient management of logistics

Benefits

The process put in place for the management of the program enabled us to efficiently manage all requests for compassionate access for this treatment. Despite the complexity of this process and the large number of requests, all were processed within the expected timeframe, ensuring the satisfaction of all stakeholders: client, healthcare professionals and patients.
